Dampening - Usually this is just people mispronouncing "Damping."
Damping - A way of eliminating vibrations. Usually used in reference to bicycle suspension forks.
Deore - A line of mountain bike components from Shimano. The base model, below LX, SLX, XT, and XTR.
Department Store - This is a general store selling various goods. It's fine for buying a t-shirt, but not a great place to buy a bicycle.
Derailer, Derailleur - A mechanism, operated by a shifter, that moves the chain between chainrings or cogs.

Diamond Frame - The standard frame design for modern bicycles. The top tube, down tube, seat stays, and chain stays together resemble a diamond shape.
Die - A tool for cutting male threads. Also see, tap.
