Pedal Maintenance (for Clipless Pedals)

by Levi Bloom

Most pedals will require an overhaul eventually, but you can usually get years of trouble-free use with basic maintenance.

The good news is, all you have to do is keep the pedal clean. Just use a rag and some degreaser to keep it clean and dry. Same goes for the cleat on your shoe.

If the cleat starts to squeak, simply apply some light lube or wax to the pedal and cleat. And reapply as necessary.

Other than that, check to make sure the cleat bolts are tight, and you're all set!
